The Importance of Serving
Few things are more important to growing as an individual than serving those around you. Being a thriving church community, the opportunities to serve abound and we hope you'll consider taking advantage of those opportunities. While your service benefits us, we're far more excited about how it benefits you personally and aids your investigation and/or pursuit of following after Christ, the greatest servant of all.
The Mission of Our Teams
All of our teams strive to accomplish the church's overall mission and vision of creating an authentic community centered around and growing in the gospel in their own unique way. Some do this by readying the facility for weekly worship, others by creating content for the worship services itself, and still others by meeting the various needs of everyone walking through our doors. Learn more about our teams and how to volunteer below.
Opportunities to Serve at New Valley
Below is a list of the various teams and opportunities in which to serve. To express interest in a given team, please fill out our Online Connection Card and indicate in the 'comments' section the team for which you have an interest, or you can contact the church staff at any time.
HOSPITALITY - Hospitality team strives to create a hospitable environment for all our guests by preparing refreshments, maintaining the parlor and courtyard areas, and folding bulletins for our worship services.
CONNECTION - Connection team exists to provide a warm welcome to everyone attending our Sunday service. The goal is to help make everyone feel comfortable, known, and informed, and to help them 'connect' with our community. Connection team volunteers should be outgoing people who know our community and are passionate about making others feel welcomed and involved.
NET - Net team works hard to make our facility easy to both find and use and assists the pastoral staff in helping our worship services to run smoothly. They set-up and take-down the signs on Sunday, help to prep the sanctuary and facility for worship, take attendance, collect the offering, and a host of other responsibilities. They are the 'net' that catches everything that might otherwise slip through the cracks on Sundays.
BAND - One of the key ways we express worship collectively is through music and song. Band members should be highly skilled at their instrument and passionate about leading others in worship. If you are interested in volunteering with the worship band, click here.
SOUND - The Sound team soundchecks the band, creates the mix, and runs the board for our worship services. Volunteers should have a good ear for hearing various musical elements in a given mix. Prior experience is a plus, but not absolutely necessary.
MEDIA - The Media team handles all media elements during our service from a mac computer, including the worship slides, sermon slides, video clips, etc. The program predominantly used is ProPresenter.
